CS6204: Cumulus, Nimbus, Cumulonimbus – Choosing Between Clouds

چکیده
Cloud computing is a multi-billion business, with more than 100 cloud service providers [1] vying for supremacy. Businesses are overwhelmed with choices and tradeoffs. In this paper we offer a qualitative and quantitative assessment of leading cloud service providers (CSPs) to guide small and medium businesses (SMBs) in their choice of CSP. Our qualitative study of usability, reliability, and customer service identified Azure as an intuitive and business-friendly cloud. In our quantitative work, we give SMBs some guidelines for drawing their own conclusions based on the performance characteristics of their applications.

A Qualitative View Of Clouds In The Equatorial Trough Zone
Oceanic tropical clouds are observed to occur at various length scales over the equatorial trough zone (an area around the intertropical convergence zone or ITCZ). As one proceeds from the subtropics towards the equator, the cloud types range from small stratocumulus, small cumulus (including trade cumulus), cumulus, cumulonimbus (isolated) and large mesoscale convective systems (MCSs)with a co...
متن کاملSimulation of Cumuliform Clouds Based on Computational Fluid Dynamics
Simulation of natural phenomena is one of the important research fields in computer graphics. In particular, clouds play an important role in creating images of outdoor scenes. Fluid simulation is effective in creating realistic clouds because clouds are the visualization of atmospheric fluid. In this paper, we propose a simulation technique, based on a numerical solution of the partial differe...
متن کاملRealistic and Fast Cloud Rendering
Clouds are an important aspect of rendering outdoor scenes. This paper describes a cloud system that extends texture splatting on particles to model a dozen cloud types (e.g., stratus, cumulus congestus, cumulonimbus), an improvement over earlier systems that modeled only one type of cumulus. We also achieve fast real-time rendering, even for scenes of dense overcast coverage, which was a limit...
متن کاملDiurnal Cycles of Cumulus, Cumulonimbus, Stratus, Stratocumulus, and Fog from Surface Observations over Land and Ocean
A worldwide climatology of the diurnal cycles of low clouds is obtained from surface observations made eight or four times daily at 3or 6-h intervals from weather stations and ships. Harmonic fits to the daily cycle are made for 5388 weather stations with long periods of record, and for gridded data on a 58 3 58 or 108 3 108 latitude–longitude grid over land and ocean areas separately. For all ...

Introduction: Patterns of spatial and temporal rainfall impact on runoff and outlet hydrograph (Cordery, 1993; James, 1994). Results of different studies have clarified that simulation by using diverse rainfall data could increase the reliance of results. These were much more sensible in which areas encounter with data scarcity (Mello et al., 2008; Bekiaris et al., 2008). Rainfall properties in...
